About HIDEO
Hello and welcome! HIDEO is a diabetes accessory brand founded by Naoko, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2020. Our mission is simple: to bring joy and personality to diabetic accessories. After all, who says diabetes products need to be dull? We believe they should reflect your unique identity and spirit. Each of our products is thoughtfully crafted by by kay, an incredibly talented Japanese bag artisan and cancer survivor. With her skill and care, we ensure that our accessories not only fulfill their purpose but also carry a sense of authenticity and warmth for those who use them. We truly hope that HIDEO's creations add a little more joy and brightness to your life, even as you navigate the challenges of living with diabetes.

Hi my name is NAOKO!
I am currently living on the Gold Coast in Australia. After experiencing gestational diabetes twice and being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the end of 2020. Shortly after my diagnosis, I attended a party where someone asked me about the glucose monitor on my arm. This prompted me to start exploring who I am as a person living with Type 1 diabetes and how I want to show up to life with this new reality. Through this experience, I realized that while living with a chronic condition can be challenging, life also holds just as many joys. Inspired by this realization, I began creating HIDEO’s arm covers, and insulin pouches based on the concept of "infuse a sense of joy and personality into diabetic accessories." Through these products, I aim to support people with Type 1 diabetes all around the world.

I live in Japan and work as a bag craftsman. As a cancer survivor, my perspective on life has deeply changed. From a young age, I was skilled with the sewing machine, a talent I inherited from my mother. Surviving cancer has made me truly understand how precious life is, and with that understanding comes a profound sense of gratitude. I now feel a strong desire to give back, using the skills I’ve been fortunate enough to retain. Sewing has always been my strength, and today I use it to create beautiful, meaningful items that bring comfort and joy to others. Whether it’s stylish clothing and bags for those living with medical devices, or pouches and book covers, I pour my gratitude for life into every piece, striving to make a positive impact through my craft.
